Waiting For Love - Chapter 2

Sofia said excitedly, "Anthony, is that you?" Anthony smiled sheepishly and told Sofia that he had just happened to pass by and didn't expect to be ambushed by her, let alone run into two bad guys committing a crime.

Ignoring Sofia's skeptical look, Anthony continued with a smile, "Didn't I tell you long ago? You must be very careful when I'm not around. How could you be so careless?" Hearing this, Sofia was overjoyed. Suddenly feeling as though she had returned to her childhood, she said, "Anthony, back then... it was so good to have you along the way." Deeply moved, Anthony quickly replied, "Same here." He opened his mouth as if he wanted to say something to her, but before he could, Sofia's expression suddenly changed. Saying "I have to go," she bid farewell to Anthony.

Back home, Sofia's mind was in turmoil. She remembered how Anthony had been taken away by the police, and she knew that she and Anthony were not meant to be! She even felt a lingering fear—Anthony was stubborn and loved to fight, so he probably didn't even have a proper job. Could tonight's "hero saving the beauty" have been an act? How could there be such a coincidence? Exactly, he must be in cahoots with those two young men! At this thought, Sofia told herself: Anthony, your little trick is too old-fashioned; it's something straight out of an old movie!

From then on, Sofia's heart was often filled with conflict. Every time Anthony asked her out, she desperately wanted to go, yet she always ended up turning him down.

One day, while working on the train, Sofia caught a glimpse of Anthony on board and couldn't help walking over to ask where he was headed. Anthony seemed nervous, muttered something about "a business trip, see you in a bit," and walked away. A business trip? Hmph, is he always hopping around on trains? Sofia felt irritated and thought to herself: Don't let me catch you, or I'll be the one sending you to prison!

On the return trip of the train, Sofia never expected to see Anthony again! What kind of business trip lasts less than a few days before heading straight back home? This only reinforced Sofia's suspicion that Anthony was a thief! She walked over and sneered, "Isn't it better to live an honest life? What on earth are you doing?"

Anthony was taken aback, then smiled awkwardly, "Oh... didn't you say it's good to have me along the way? I'm here to keep you company." Seeing his flippant attitude, Sofia didn't wait for him to finish; she angrily turned and walked away.

By noon, Sofia still couldn't put her mind at ease. She wanted to persuade Anthony—if he changed now, it still wasn't too late! But to her surprise, when she found Anthony again, she discovered that not far from him sat two young men—the very same two who had blocked her path that night! Shocked, Sofia hurried over to Anthony and whispered, "Aren't you a hero? Hurry up and catch them." Anthony shushed her and leaned in to whisper in her ear, "Don't panic. Let's wait until they slip up." Sofia thought to herself: Fine, I'll wait and see how you get yourself out of this!

After a while, the two young men looked left and right, then began picking pockets. At that moment, Anthony lunged forward like an arrow, making quick work of them and subduing them in no time. Could this still be an act? Sofia didn't have time to overthink; she rushed forward to help Anthony and escorted the two thieves to the train's security office...

Afterward, avoiding Anthony, she said to the train police officer, "This man's name is Anthony. Please interrogate him thoroughly as well." To her surprise, the officer paused, then chuckled and said, "Who? Are you talking about this undercover anti-theft police officer?"

Anthony was a police officer? Sofia was utterly stunned!

After getting off the train, Sofia and Anthony went to a park and talked for a very, very long time. Anthony shared everything that had happened to him over the past few years. He explained that ever since Sofia moved back to the city during childhood, he was always unhappy. His father noticed and told him, "Sofia is a city girl. If you want to be with her, you can only do so by studying hard and going to university in the future." That was why Anthony studied frantically, putting everything else out of his mind, until he finally passed the police academy exam and became a police officer. Anthony said he had long wanted to talk to Sofia about all of this, but she had always been cold toward him and never gave him the chance.

Hearing this, Sofia felt a warm glow in her heart and softly asked, "But back in high school, why did you end up at the police station?"

Anthony hesitated for a moment before replying, "Gouzi had been drinking and running his mouth, claiming that he and you had... dated when you were kids. I just couldn't stop myself from hitting him."

At this, Sofia blushed and said, "Stop talking... Anthony, will you walk me home? Tell me the truth: now that I have you along the way, is it good?"

Anthony hurriedly nodded. Sofia reached out and tightly grabbed Anthony's hand, her heart overflowing with an indescribable sweetness!
