Chapter 2
He chuckled.
“It's forgetful porridge. Once you eat it, you'll forget everything that happened this afternoon.”
I tried desperately not to smile.
But my anger had already vanished.
Just a few hours earlier, I had been ready to walk out of the house.
A few hours later, I was sitting there thinking I loved my husband more than words could ever say.
The third time, it was me again.
I cried and demanded a divorce, sobbing that I “couldn't live with him anymore.”
My husband was even colder than before.
“Fine. Let's divide everything up right now. What do you want to take?”
I was so frightened that I actually started trembling. I couldn't squeeze out another tear.
I regretted pushing him too far. Deep down, I wanted to beg him to forgive me. I wanted to admit that I was wrong.
Unfortunately, my mouth had apparently betrayed my heart.
Instead, I put on a defiant expression and started pointing at everything in sight.
The bank card.
The piggy bank.
The jewelry box my parents had given me as part of my dowry.
Our brand-new, ridiculously large television.
The gemstone painting hanging on the wall...
I was determined to take anything and everything I could.
After all, it was his family's house, and I knew perfectly well that if we actually divorced, I probably wouldn't get much out of it.
I was enthusiastically pointing from one possession to another when my husband suddenly pointed straight at me.
I exploded.
“What are you pointing at me for? How dare you point at me!”
He didn't laugh.
He simply said,
“I'll give you the whole house. I'm only taking this crazy woman.”
I froze.
My mouth was still hanging open, and my face turned bright red with embarrassment.
And just like that, we made up again.
The fourth time, it was me yet again, stubbornly insisting that we should get divorced.
My husband let out a helpless sigh.
“Fine. Write the papers.”
I immediately opened my laptop and sat down to draft the divorce petition.
The document was open in front of me.
I stared at the blank page.
I had absolutely no idea what to write.
My husband gave a sarcastic little laugh.
“You've become such a professional at getting divorced, and you don't even know how to write the paperwork? Look up a template online.”
His teasing immediately triggered my pride.
I went online at once.
And somehow, the internet connection died at exactly that moment.
I spent ages trying to fix it, but nothing worked.
Eventually, I slammed the laptop shut and went to take a shower.
By the time I came out, my anger had disappeared completely.
