More than friendship, but never crossing the line into love. We choose to quietly stay by each other’s side, to need one another, and to be each other’s lovers. You and I are not strangers. We simply happened to realize that we need each other, and then we chose to become lovers.

Lovers—just lovers, nothing more.

It is simply about realizing the feelings that have quietly existed throughout all those days. It is about turning around and discovering that someone you deeply love and care for has been there all along, right behind you—after that person has already experienced another love—and suddenly realizing that this is the person who matters most, the person you truly need.

Neither a first love nor a final love.

Just lovers.

And because we are lovers, we accept that the other person may share their love with someone else. We accept that their kisses may not belong exclusively to one person. We accept that their heart may not race wildly for only one person.

Lovers need each other physically, emotionally, and through the simple act of sharing. They need each other for those moments of comfort when one of them is upset with their partner…

Need each other. Come to each other. Give everything in the moment. Then leave.

Lovers never really have to say goodbye in the same way that couples in love do, do they?

So let us remain just lovers, my love.

A lover is not the same as a boyfriend or girlfriend.

A romantic partner is someone who can be openly acknowledged, someone others know about. But to me, being lovers does not necessarily mean being part of a secret or forbidden relationship.

People may know about us.

Yet being lovers often does not carry the same depth of commitment as being in a conventional relationship. We do not have the right to forbid each other from doing things, to demand exclusivity, to become jealous, or to blame one another.

A mistress  has no right to allow herself to be jealous. Yes, it is fondness, it might even be love, but a mistress should not let her heart be stirred. This person can love someone else, and the other has no right to forbid it. Because she is a mistress, in this three-way story, is there any solid ground for such a precarious title?

Right. Tears might fall in a sudden moment of weakness, upon seeing this person in the arms of another. It might hurt to see someone else being intimate and giving affection to someone who isn't her... but does she have the right to demand that much? Being a mistress, could she one day become the lover?

It's just that I don't want to miss someone too much, out of fear that his shadow will never fade away. It's just that if I love too deeply, I'm afraid that one day I won't be able to walk away. I'm afraid that when a mistress is no longer just a mistress, and these feelings grow stronger by the day, it will be hard for me to turn back. Because I am afraid of being hurt once more. That is why I always choose to lock the door of my heart tight!

Let's just remain each other's mistress/lover. A mistress so that we never have to say goodbye... Let affection overflow. Whenever we truly need each other the most, let's just say a word of love!
