Chapter 3

As Orianna muttered to herself while walking, the guy in the black shirt sitting inside the duty room looked outside and spotted her heading toward the upper offices. He started fidgeting and staring after her.

– "Hey, what are you looking at? That's the Vice Chairman's little princess, don't go getting all restless over her."

One of the police officers teased him. He scratched the back of his head, smiled sheepishly, and didn't say anything.

Meanwhile, back at Orianna's house that morning:

– "Dad, may I please take a day off today to attend Linh's wedding?"

– "Is that Linh from high school? She's getting married already?"

– "All your friends are starting families, yet my daughter still hasn't brought any guy home to introduce. Hurry up so I can have a grandchild to hold!" Orianna's mother sighed.

– "Oh Mom, your daughter isn't that desperate for you to worry like that. Slow and steady wins the race, dearest Mom!" Orianna ran over, hugged her mother, and pOriannated a loud kiss on her cheek.

– "Goodbye, Mom and Dad, I'm off!"

Arriving at Linh's wedding and struggling to find a parking spot, she heard a voice from behind:

– "Orianna, do you remember me?"

Startled, she turned around.

– "Oh, Brother Egan! When did you get back?"

– "I got back two days ago. How have you been? You're getting prettier the older you get!"

– "Hehe, you're just teasing me. I'm working back at the commune now, Brother. Are your wife and the kids back too?"

– "Yes, they are. They're out buying things with my aunt. Leave your bike here, I'll park it for you. Go on inside to see Linh."

– "Okay, thank you!"

As Orianna walked inside to see Linh, the guy in the black shirt walked over to Egan:

– "Do you know that girl?"

– "Yeah, she went to school with my Linh—they're best friends. Back in high school, they practically lived at my house. I've always thought of her like a little sister."

– "Can you find a way to get her phone number for me?"

– "Smitten already?" Egan nudged his friend playfully and flashed a cunning smile.

– "Just don't tell her I asked, okay? Keep it a secret for me."

That day, Orianna stayed and helped Linh with a lot of things, running back and forth to buy items with the bride and preparing flower arrangements to welcome the groom's family for the engagement ceremony. After finishing up and sitting down to catch her breath, Orianna suddenly spotted the guy in the black shirt from afar. Her eyes went wide with shock, and she couldn't help wondering in her head why he was at this wedding. Seeing the look on her face, Linh smiled.

– "Eyeing him, are you? He's a friend of my brother Egan. His name is Felix."

– "How can your brother Egan hang out with a guy like that?"

– "What are you talking about? I don't get it."

– "Oh, nothing! I'm heading home now. My dad told me to come back early. I probably won't be able to come over and help you tonight; my dad doesn't let me travel alone at night from afar. I'll come down early tomorrow morning instead, okay?"

– "That's sad. The others can only make it tomorrow because of family matters, and you're the only one here today."

– "Come on, friend, please forgive me and understand a little. My house is far away! I'm leaving now. I'll be down early tomorrow morning with you, deal?"

– "Fine, be careful on the road!"

Saying goodbye to her friend to head home, Orianna bumped into Felix again at the parking lot.

– "Hello, it's very nice to meet you."

– "Oh, you scared me to death! Is there any shortage of times to introduce yourself, did you really have to jump right out into the middle of the road like that when you saw someone in such a hurry?"

– "So you're in a hurry? I'm sorry."

– "Yes, very hurry, I need to get home right now. My baby is crying for its mother at home!"

– "What? You're already married?"

– "Next time, before trying to chat someone up, you should do a background check first. Please do me a favor and step aside so I can go back to my husband and kids."

Squeezing past Felix, Orianna twisted the throttle and zoomed off, leaving Felix standing frozen in place like a statue at the parking lot. Seeing this, Egan walked over and asked:

– "What's wrong? Why are you standing there looking so dazed?"

– "She said she already has a family."

– "Ha! She was just messing with you, and you actually believed it? Discouraged already? Here's her phone number. Still want it or not?"

– "Give it here! I'll chat her up tonight."

– "Good luck with your conquest. It's going to be tough, though—I heard Linh say she doesn't seem to have a very good impression of you."
