Mrs. David went upstairs, leaving the two men downstairs. Mr. David turned and gently, kindly inquired about Felix's injuries. Realizing it was getting late, Felix asked for permission to leave, not forgetting to ask Orianna's father to help find out why Orianna was so angry with him.
Upstairs, in the room:
– "Are you and Felix having some kind of lovers' quarrel?" her mother asked.
Tossing and turning with frustration, Orianna snapped:
– "Does Dad really have no idea what kind of person he is?!"
Mr. David was surprised by his daughter's words.
– "What do you mean?"
– "Dad, don't you know he's a hoodlum in the commune? Why would you agree to let me date him?"
– "Oh? I thought you already knew all about him, which is why I agreed to let you be with him. You don't know anything about him?"
– "I did know, that's why I was afraid you'd be mad."
– "Ha! So you were mad at him because you thought he was a delinquent, and you were afraid I wouldn't approve of you becoming his girlfriend? No wonder he told me my daughter is so hard to win over, refusing to say yes no matter how hard he tries, even though her parents already approved."
– "Dad, why are you saying things like that?"
– "I understand now. Go on to bed, you have work tomorrow."
Back in their room, Mr. and Mrs. David seemed quite joyful. They talked with each other for a long time, after which Mr. David even made a phone call to someone with a cheerful tone, as if a well-prepared pOrianna was about to take place.
The next morning, Orianna was called by her father to the Vice Chairman's office. He told her that the district police had invited commune leaders to attend an awards ceremony hosted by the Provincial Police Department to honor individuals with outstanding achievements in maintaining local security and order, and he was letting his daughter tag along.
At the district People's Committee, various units were honored one by one, followed by individual awards. When the name Hoàng Đình Felix was called, Orianna, who was busy looking at her phone, heard the familiar name and looked up. Her eyes went wide and her mouth dropped open. She rubbed her eyes and stared up at the honorary stage—she couldn't believe her eyes. The person up on the stage smiling brightly as he received flowers from the leaders looked exactly like Felix! But why was Felix wearing a police uniform? Thinking she must be seeing things, Orianna turned to ask her father, but he had wandered off somewhere.
After the ceremony ended, Orianna was standing outside the hallway waiting for her father to come out when she caught sight of a very familiar figure walking ahead of her. She hurried after him to clear up her confusion, but the figure walked too fast. When they reached the back of the assembly hall, the person suddenly stopped and turned around. It was a guy with a sun-tanned complexion, wearing a police cap and a green uniform, a bright smile on his lips with that cute canine tooth that could captivate any girl who happened to see it.
– "You are...?" Orianna asked, still feeling skeptical inside.
– "Don't you recognize me?"
– "Why are you dressed like that?"
– "Oh, I just borrowed this uniform from a colleague at work today," Felix laughed heartily.
Orianna blushed. So Felix was an undercover police officer in her commune! Because he was an undercover cop, only key commune officials knew his true identity. The days she ran into him at the People's Committee assembly hall were the days Felix was on duty handling cases in the commune. The night he said he was busy was when he went on patrol with the core security forces, and the day Felix was injured was when he and his teammates resolved a clash among local youths, resulting in his injury. Orianna understood everything now. She also understood why her father trusted Felix so much, while she had stubbornly insisted he was a hoodlum.
Felix gently walked over to her and whispered:
– "Apologies to the Vice Chairman's little princess—could you trust me just this once and let me be your boyfriend? I guarantee I am the most serious and exemplary young man in the entire commune," Felix joked playfully.
Orianna blushed, didn't say a word, and ran off.
That evening, as Felix was lying on his bed listening to music, a text message came in:
– "Sorry for misunderstanding you, but I've actually fallen in love with a good-hearted 'hoodlum' for a long time now. I accept your confession from this morning."
Felix let out a shout of pure joy—Orianna had finally accepted him!
