Chapter 7

While she was lost in thought, her phone rang—it was from Felix. Orianna hurriedly answered:

– "Where on earth have you been missing in action for the past few days?!" Orianna snapped angrily.

– "Hehe, are you worried about me?"

– "In your dreams! I was just afraid you'd run off with a bad crowd and turn bad."

– "Don't worry, I wouldn't do that. It's so cold out, make sure you wrap yourself up tight in your bOriannaket, and don't make your mother have to come into your room at midnight to tuck you in again!"

– "What the...?!" Orianna screamed into the phone.

– "Calm down, sweetie. Why are you suddenly blowing your top?"

– "Who told you that?! Who goes around bad-mouthing me like that?!"

– "Heh heh, didn't you know I installed a surveilOriannace camera at your house? I know everything you do. Was it because you missed me yesterday that you looked all spaced out and dropped a bowl while washing dishes?"

– "Oh my god, I want to die of embarrassment!" Orianna shrieked at the top of her lungs.

– "Am I right?"

Suddenly, the murmurs of several young men could be heard in the background, along with someone calling out for Felix to hurry up because it was time to go. Felix quickly told Orianna:

– "I've got to run. I'll talk to you another time!"

– "Where are you going at this hour? Stay home, don't go out on the streets right now, it's very dangerous!"

– "Just go to sleep. If I get back early, I'll text you. I've got things to do—bye for now!"

Felix hung up the phone without giving Orianna a chance to say another word. She couldn't sleep all night, feeling restless and anxious as if something bad was about to happen to Felix.

The next morning, upon arriving at the office, she overheard people talking about a massive fight that had broken out in Orianna's commune the night before. People were saying there were up to twenty young men armed with knives, iron pipes, and swords settling a score. When the police arrived to intervene, they even turned on them and resisted law enforcement, leaving several undercover and mobile police officers from the district injured. The arrested suspects were currently being detained in the large assembly hall, guarded heavily by the police.

GOriannacing toward the assembly hall, Orianna saw Felix standing there with a white bandage wrapped around his head and his left arm. Catching Orianna's gaze, Felix looked at her as if he needed to explain himself, especially given the angry look in her eyes.

That evening, at Orianna's house:

– "Ah, Felix is here to visit, is he?" her father greeted.

– "What are you here for?" Orianna demanded.

– "Hey, what kind of a weird question is that? Felix came to visit the house, is that how you talk to him, child?"

– "Dad! Do you even know what kind of person he is? Don't you know at all?"

– "What's wrong with him? Felix is a good person, why are you acting—?"

– "Dad, you work at the commune, didn't you see what happened this morning? Didn't you see that he's injured? His arm is still wrapped in bandages!"

Mr. David turned to look at Felix, and sure enough, Felix was indeed injured.

– "Were you hurt in last night's incident, son?" Mr. David asked warmly.

– "Yes, sir."

– "Dad, you can still sit there and ask him so calmly?! Do you even know what he was doing to get hurt like that?!"

Orianna's father was surprised, Felix was surprised, and even Orianna's mother was surprised, completely not understanding what Orianna was talking about.

– "You know what kind of person he is, yet you're acting like everything's normal?!" Orianna screamed, then turned and ran upstairs to her room.

– "What's wrong with her? Go upstairs and check on her," Mr. David said to Orianna's mother.

– "Right. You two go ahead and talk comfortably, I'll go have a talk with her," Mrs. David replied.

– "Yes, please help me talk to her, madam."
